Won’t give an inch to Beijing, Shah vows, tears Congress over ‘love of China’ | News from India

NEW DELHI: Declaring that Narendra Modi’s government would not allow “a single inch of its land” to be invaded, Interior Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday praised Indian soldiers for “protecting the motherland” by driving Chinese infiltrators away from Tawang “in a few hours ” on December 8-9.
At the same time, he has his back against the wall Congress for disrupting Question Time in Lok Sabha despite a statement from the defense minister on the events in Tawang being inserted. Shah said Congress may have done so to avoid any disclosures during his response to a question related to Chinese funding extended to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) headed by Sonia Gandhi between 2005 and 2007.

The registration of two Gandhi family-owned trusts – Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust (RGCT) – under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, was canceled in October this year for violating multiple provisions of the law.
Shah revealed out Parliament that RGF had received Rs 1.35 crore from the Chinese Embassy during 2005-2007 for research on the development of Sino-Indian ties. Incidentally, RGF was registered under the FCRA with “welfare” as the objective.
“As the transaction (receipt of Rs 1.35 crore from the Chinese Embassy) was not in compliance with the FCRA laws, the Home Ministry, after following all the legal formalities and issuing a notice, canceled the FCRA registration” Shah said. The main violations against RGF and RGCT are: failure to use funds for the purpose for which they were received, failure to keep proper accounts and also failure to notify the government of the source and use of any foreign receipts.

Asking Congress about the aspects covered by RGF’s research on Sino-Indian ties and the outcome, Shah questioned whether China’s invasion of thousands of hectares of land in 1962 had been investigated. Other events he mentioned while researching the details of the research were India’s sacrifice of a permanent seat in the UNSC due to “Nehru’s love” for China and a dinner hosted by the Congress for officials of the Chinese embassy even as the army fought Chinese troops in Galwan in 2020.
“When in office, the Chinese claimed Arunachal Pradesh and the former NEFA. In 2007, China rejected the visa application of then Arunachal Pradesh CM Dorjee Khandu, stating that Arunachal is part of China… In 2009, China opposed the visit of then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the Arunachal Pradesh. He asked if all these aspects of Sino-Indian ties had been studied by the RGF.
