PARIS: French star Kylian Mbappe returned to training with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday just three days after finding himself on the losing side despite scoring a hat-trick in the world cup final.
The 24-year-old threw a dejected figure following France’s loss to Argentina – led by his PSG team-mate Lionel Messi – in a penalty shootout, despite his goals carrying twice the level of the 2018 champions.
However, despite the PSG players being given 10 days off, Mbappe was pictured at the French champions’ training ground.
“Kylian Mbappé resumed training on Wednesday,” PSG tweeted.

Mbappe, who finished as the World Cup’s top scorer with eight goals, was not due until January and PSG have not said whether he will be available for selection for their Ligue 1 game against Strasbourg on December 28. .
His return to training comes the day after a documentary about the France campaign showed Mbappe giving his team-mates a rousing half-time speech in Sunday’s final after a sluggish first half that saw them trail 2-0.
“It’s the World Cup guys, it’s the match of a lifetime!” says Mbappe in the French channel TF1 documentary.
“In any case, we could hardly play worse than what we have already done.

“We go back on the pitch and either we continue to play like idiots or we increase the intensity.
“It’s the World Cup final! We’re losing 2-0 but we can come back.

Although Mbappe led the fight back, it took until the 80th minute – when he scored a penalty to make it 2-1 – for the team to really find the fighting spirit.
Mbappe was expected to go on and score his penalty in the shoot-out but, with Kingsley Coman and Aurelien Tchouameni both out, Argentina were not to be disallowed, with Gonzalo Montiel fending off the winning kick.
