Exclusive! Dalljiet Kaur to marry UK-based Nikhil Patel in March, the actress will move abroad along with her son

Not everyone gets a second chance at love, but Dalljiet Kaur is happy to be among the few who do. The actress is set to wed Nikhil Patel, a UK resident who works with a financial firm, in March this year. After the wedding, she will move to London with her nine-year-old son, Jaydon. She shares, “The wedding is in March and I’m still figuring out a lot of things. I will be moving to Nairobi (Africa) for a couple of years as Nikhil is there on business at the moment. Eventually we will return to London, where he was born and raised.”

Dalljiet adds, “I met Nick at a friend’s party in Dubai last year. I only talked about my son, and he talked about his two daughters, 13-year-old Aariyana and eight-year-old Aanika. He wore blue nail polish on his toenails and when I asked him about it, he replied, “I’m a proud father of two girls.” Romance wasn’t in the air then; it was just two single parents chatting. Love happened with time. It was our love for our children that brought us together. While Anika is living with her mother in the US, Aariyana will be living with us”.

After being in a relationship for about a year, the two got engaged in Nepal on January 3. Dalljiet was previously married to actor Shalin Bhanot. They got married in 2009 and were involved in a nasty divorce battle, which happened in 2013. Today, the two are cordial and Shalin is in regular contact with Jaydon. So how do you plan to facilitate their meetings? “Jaydon needs to have the most normal life and he can only have that if he has his people, including Shalin, around him. Shalin is more than welcome to meet Jaydon and I will take him to India to meet him. He should know that his father loves him. Hamein iss bachhe ka sochna chahiye jiska koi lena dena nahi hai jo bhi jhagde hue ya nahi hue. We both have to step up as his parents and this is our chance. If Shalin gets married, I will introduce that girl to Jaydon,” she replied.

While the actress will soon be exchanging wedding vows for the second time, it took her a while to decide to give marriage another shot. She says: “My biggest fear was not having to make a wrong decision. However, as I was picking up the broken pieces of my life, in addition to realizing how much Jaydon missed having a father, it was also about missing a mate, which I hadn’t felt before. I’m in love with Nikhil and I feel butterflies in my stomach every time he calls me. I never thought it would happen. I always thought that first I would get married and then I would fall in love”.

Now that she’s moving, how about acting? “I have signed a couple of projects and I am ready to go back to Mumbai. Nick says he will take care of the children when I travel, as I will when he travels for work. Bahut fears has inbut since Nick is holding my hand through all of this, I think everything will be great,” he concludes with a smile.
