Pervez Musharraf, former president of Pakistan, passed away after a long illness in Dubai

NEW DELHI: Former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf passed away due to a prolonged illness in Dubai on Sunday, Pakistan’s Geo News reported. She was 79 years old.
Had suffered treatment for an “Amyloidosis” disorder at the American Hospital in Dubai.
The former president had reportedly been hospitalized for a couple of weeks due to a complication of his disorder and died after collapsing.
Musharraf had lived in Dubai since 2016. The former president has been in the UAE for the past eight years to receive medical treatment.
He was the tenth president of the South Asian nation after the successful military coup in 1999. He served as the tenth chairman of the Pakistan Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) from 1998 to 2001 and seventh general from 1998 to 2007.
He attempted to normalize ties between India and Pakistan
Musharraf has attempted to normalize relations between New Delhi and Islamabad.
According to analysts, the Kashmir dispute, which remains a powerful point of contention between the two countries, was on its way to being resolved during his rule. However, the peace process was derailed soon after.
He returned to Pakistan in 2013 to run for a seat in parliament but was immediately disqualified. He was allowed to leave for Dubai in 2016.

He had joined the Pakistan Army in 1964 and was a graduate of the Army Staff and Command College, Quetta.
Born on August 11, 1943 in Delhi (British India), Musharraf completed his early education at St Patrick’s High School in Karachi.
He continued his higher education at Forman Christian College in Lahore.
