NEW DELHI: Congressman Rahul Gandhi said on Monday that the government led by Narendra Modi was doing its best to ensure that no discussion takes place in Parliament for what concern Adani Group route.
‘Prime Minister Modi tries to avoid discussion’
“Prime Minister Modi ji will try his best to avoid a discussion about Adani in Parliament. There is a reason for that and you know it. There should be a discussion about Adani issue and the truth should come out. The hundreds of hundreds of thousands of corruption that has taken place should come out. The country should know what is the power behind Adani,” Gandhi told reporters.
“We need to find out who supports Gautam Adani. We need a discussion in Parliament and a thorough investigation… For several years I have been talking about the government and ‘Hum do, Humare do’. The government does not want and fears a discussion in Parliament on Adani ji,” he added.
On Monday, both houses of Parliament had to adjourn for the day ahead as united Opposition continued to raise fraud allegations against the Adani Group.

Probe question in Lok Sabha
The lower house saw opposition parties calling for a joint parliamentary committee investigation into allegations of stock fraud and manipulation against the Adani group.
As soon as the House met after the weekend recess, members of the opposition came to the Well shouting slogans like “Adani sarkar shame-shame” and demanding an investigation into the tanking of Adani Group stock and the trading practices of the corporate giant.
Speaker Oh Beer he urges them to return to their seats and join the debate. “This is not good. The slogan is against the dignity of the House. People have elected you to raise their issues in Parliament but you are not interested in participating in the debate,” she said.
However, the opposition ignored his pleas and continued their protests and chanting, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House until 2pm.
After the resumption of the Chamber at 2 pm, the opposition parties continued their protests. The President then adjourned the House for the day.
Chaos inside Raja Sabha
The upper house adjourned within 15 minutes of the morning session as opposition members called for a halt on the day’s listed business and addressed the issues raised by them. President Jagdeep Dhankhar failed to accept 10 warnings given by various opposition party leaders, prompting another round of protests.
The president tried to pacify the protesting members, but in vain. He then adjourned the proceedings until 14:00.
When the Rajya Sabha met for its afternoon session, opposition members once again called for a discussion of the Adani issue.
The Chairman did not accept their request, inviting them to let the listed activity conclude. With opposition parties inexorable, he adjourned the House for the day without negotiating any business.
Adani Group shares took a hit on stock exchanges after US short seller Hindenburg Research made a litany of allegations in its report last week, including fraudulent transactions and share price manipulation at the group led by Gautam Adani , who denied the allegations.
Adani Group’s market losses have risen to nearly 103 billion US dollars (about 8.5 lakh crore rupees).
