Chinese spy balloons have been spotted in the skies over countries on five continents, US officials have announced.
The United States has also been in contact with its allies on the balloon issue, according to the White House.
It comes after US fighter jets shot down a first suspected Chinese spy device off the coast of South Carolina on Saturday.
Another suspected surveillance balloon was spotted over Latin America on Monday.
Beijing has insisted that the balloons are for “civilian use”.
