HAL delivers an advanced light helicopter to Mauritius ahead of schedule

BENGALURU: Defense PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) said on Friday that it delivered the advanced light helicopter mark-3 (ALH-Mk3) to the Mauritian government ahead of schedule.
HAL’s Director of Operations EP Jayadeva said, “HAL delivered the helicopter much earlier than expected. This order is in line with the Center’s vision to increase defense exports to friendly foreign countries, and the delivery of the helicopter has further strengthened ties between the two countries.”
The PSU said the ALH-Mk3 helicopter, with its state-of-the-art equipment, will further enhance the operational requirements of the Mauritius Police (MPF).
AK Dip, Police Commissioner, MPF, was quoted as saying: “A new helicopter in MPF’s stables will improve airborne capabilities. The helicopter will contribute immensely to ensuring territorial integrity and improve the speed and effectiveness of police intervention during critical incidents and disasters.”
HAL Helicopter Complex Managing Director S Anbuvelan said India and Mauritius share a strong commercial relationship spanning more than three decades, with HAL-manufactured helicopters already operating in Mauritius.
“HAL will provide all necessary technical, logistic and maintenance support for the ALH helicopters in Mauritius,” the PSU said.
HAL had signed a contract with the Government of Mauritius in January 2022 for the export of one ALH-Mk3, a versatile multi-role and multi-mission helicopter in the 5.5 tonne category, to the MPF.
“He has proved his mettle in various utility roles including numerous life saving missions during natural disasters in India and abroad. More than 335 ALHs have been produced to date logging a total of over 3,75,000 flight hours,” HAL added.
