French authorities find woman’s decapitated head, other body parts in public park: reports

The decapitated head and other body parts of a woman were discovered in a public park in Paris on Monday, according to reports.

Municipal workers made the gruesome discovery in a wooded area of ​​the Buttes-Chaumont park, which is located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris.

According to The Telegraph, workers initially discovered a plastic bag containing a woman’s pelvic area. Upon further searching the area, police found additional bags containing multiple dismembered body parts, including the head of a woman.

A forensics team was called to the team and detectives were combing the 62-acre park, which was closed to the public. Police, meanwhile, are investigating CCTV footage.

An anonymous source told the French outlet, Le Parisien, that “the victim’s body was cut up and dressed”.

“The body was not in a state of putrefaction, which seems to indicate a recent death,” the source said.

The identity of the victim is not known and an autopsy is awaited.

The case recalled the horrific murder and rape of a 12-year-old girl whose body was found in a plastic box in Paris in October.

The French government said the suspect, a 24-year-old Algerian immigrant, had been living in the country illegally for several years.
