Police have confirmed that the body found in the River Wyre on Sunday is that of her missing mother Nicola Bulley.
Lancashire Police made the announcement at a press conference on Monday. They said Bulley’s family has been notified and that she is “devastated”.
“He was the center of our world,” said a family statement read by police. “Our girls will get the support they need from the people who love them the most.”
The statement went on to say it saddened the family to think they will one day have to explain to Bulley’s children that the press and members of the public have accused their father of making a mistake in the disappearance, as well as “misquoting” and “defaming” . friends and family.

Bulley, 45, disappeared on January 27 after dropping off his kids at school. She was last seen walking her Springer Spaniel on a path by the river, but she was in her cell phone was found on a nearby bench still connected to a work conference call and his dog was found between the bench and the river.

Her body was found about a mile from where she was last seen, the BBC said.
The Lancashire Police Department, which dedicated 40 detectives to the investigation, came under mounting criticism as the case remained unsolved.
