Danish police said there was no indication that a shooting at a Copenhagen shopping center was linked to terrorism.
Three people died as a result of the shooting on Sunday afternoon, and several others were injured, four of them seriously.
At a Monday morning press conference, Copenhagen Chief Inspector Soren Thomassen said one of the three killed was a Russian citizen living in Denmarkwhile two Swedes and two Danes were seriously injured.
He added that the shooter who opened fire most likely acted alone and chose his victims at random.
Mr Thomassen said while the motive was unclear, there was no suggestion of terrorism and the suspect would be arraigned later Monday on preliminary charges of murder.
Police were called at 5.37pm and 11 minutes later had arrested the suspect, a 22-year-old man “of Danish descent”.
The incident happened at the Fields shopping center in the south of Copenhagen.
Footage shows the suspected shooter being a man wearing knee-high socks, a vest or sleeveless shirt and holding what appeared to be a gun.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said the country had been hit by a “cruel attack”.
“It’s incomprehensible. Heartbreaking. Needless,” she said.
“Our beautiful and usually so safe capital was changed in a split second.”

A shooter opens fire in a shopping center
It was Denmark’s worst gun attack since February 2015, when a 22-year-old man was killed in a shootout with police after go wild in the capital which left two dead and five police officers injured.
Pop star concert canceled
British singer Harry Styles was due to perform at a venue near the shopping center on Sunday evening, but his concert was canceled by order of the police.
In a tweet, the former One Direction star said he was “heartbroken” and “devastated for the victims”.
Footage from the scene of Sunday’s shooting showed people fleeing the mall.
“People first thought he was a thief… Then I suddenly heard gunshots and threw myself behind the counter inside the store,” eyewitness Rikke Levandovski said. on the TV2 channel.
“He just shoots into the crowd, not into the ceiling or into the floor,” she added.

Another witness who gave her name as Isabella told public broadcaster DR: “My friend and I…all of a sudden we hear gunshots. I hear about 10 gunshots and then I run as quickly as possible in the toilet.
“We sneak into these tiny toilets where we are about 11 people.”
