Rapper Fetty Wap pleaded guilty to a drug conspiracy charge that carries a mandatory five-year prison sentence.
Rapper Trap Queen, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, is behind bars for breaking his bail conditions.
He filed the request in Central Islip on Long Island before US magistrate judge Steven Locke, who had revoked his bail two weeks ago for threatening to kill a man during a FaceTime call in 2021.
Maxwell was initially arrested in October 2021 on suspicion of participating in a conspiracy to smuggle large quantities of heroin, fentanyl and other drugs into the New York area.
The arrest came two months after him confirmed that her four-year-old daughter Lauren was dead.
On Monday he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances, the main charge against him.
The crime carries a minimum sentence of five years, and federal sentencing guidelines will likely recommend additional years in prison.
Maxwell and five co-defendants were charged with conspiring to possess and distribute more than 100 kg (220 lbs) of heroin, fentanyl and crack between June 2019 and June 2020.
According to prosecutors, the scheme involved using the United States Postal Service and cars with hidden compartments to move drugs from the West Coast to Long Island, where they were stored for distribution to dealers in Long Island and New Jersey.
The rapper’s debut single, Trap Queen, took him to fame, ranking number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 in May 2015.
He was scheduled to perform in Austin, Texas on August 27, according to his website.
In 2019 he was arrested in Las Vegas on suspicion of assaulting three employees at a hotel casino, and was also arrested in November 2017 and charged with drunk driving after police said he was racing on a New York City freeway.
