Four children died and three others were injured after an unexploded device exploded after being taken to a classroom in Afghanistan.
The incident in Afghanistan’s Helmand province occurred when children discovered an unexploded shell and took it inside their religious school and started playing with it, according to a statement from the provincial police chief’s office.
The children were aged 7 to 14 and at least three others were injured, according to the police statement.
Local officials say three of the children were killed instantly while an unidentified doctor at a local hospital said another girl later died from her injuries.
