AMRITSAR: A local court on Wednesday extended police custody of gangster Lawerence Bishnoi for another five days – until July 11 – in connection with the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case.
Bishnoi was brought to Amritsar from Kharar late Tuesday evening and was presented in court early Wednesday morning amid heavy security arrangements.
Police teams from other districts, including Moga, Hoshiarpur and Fazilka, where Bishnoi was needed in several cases, had also arrived in Amritsar asking for his pre-trial detention.
Deputy Commissioner for Police, Law and Order, Parminder Singh Bhandal, said the court had extended the custody of the Bishnoi police for another five days. He said the investigation was ongoing.
Bishnoi is a prime suspect in the killing of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, who was previously produced at Amritsar court on June 28.
Previously, the court had sent Bishnoi to 8 days of police custody in the case of the murder of a gangster Rana Kandhowalia, who was shot dead in a private hospital in Amritsar in August 2021.
For security reasons, Bishnoi was transferred to Kharar and was again brought back to Kharar after presenting him in court.
