Harry Styles dealt with the rumors he spat about co-star Chris Pine at the Venice premiere of their latest film Don’t Worry Darling.

The British pop star – who is up for grabs for a Mercury Prize tonight – told fans during his concert at Madison Square Garden in New York on Wednesday night: “I just went very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine … but fear not, we’re back.”

The joke went well with fans responding with screams.

There has been a lot of speculation that some of the cast members of the psychological thriller didn’t get along.

However, internet chatter reached new heights on Tuesday after a clip was shown Styles taking a seat next to co-star Chris Pine at the Venice Film Festival premiere of Don’t Worry Darling – directed by Olivia Wildethat Styles is dating now – it went viral.

Twitter users wondered if it showed the 28-year-old A direction star spitting into Pine’s lap before sitting down next to him, with Pine seemingly confused and then laughing to himself.

However, Variety’s chief co-editor shared this clip, which showed Styles entering from a different angle.

With the initial video seen by millions of people, Styles’ sources have claimed the story isn’t true.

A rep from Pine, 42, also denied the incident occurred.

“People are seeing some strange illusion online that is clearly deceptive … there is nothing but respect between these two men,” said the representative at the US branch of Sky News E! News.

“This is a completely made-up exchange,” added the rep, “and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create a drama that simply doesn’t exist.”

Don’t Worry Darling is a satirical thriller set in the 1950s, also starring British actresses Florence Pugh and Gemma Chan, with Wilde, 38, appearing in the film and working behind the camera.

The film reportedly received a five-minute standing ovation after the screening concluded on Monday night.

However, it has received a lot of media attention recently due to the interest in the relationship between Wilde and Stylestense news behind the scenes and the departure of Shia LaBeouf – who has been replaced by the singer – from the project.

Before his premiere, Wilde said he didn’t want to contribute to the “endless gossip of the tabloids” and “the noise.”
