A father has died and his two sons were injured after a grenade exploded at their Indiana home, authorities said.
Lake County, Indiana, police responded to reports of an explosion at a home on W Lakeshore Drive at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The family was looking through a grandfather’s belongings when they found a hand grenade.
The device exploded when someone reportedly pulled the pin, the sheriff’s department said.
The father was found unresponsive at the scene and later pronounced dead.

Her two children, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman, were taken to the hospital with shrapnel wounds, according to NBC.
The Porter County bomb squad responded to the call to determine if there were any other explosive devices, the sheriff’s department said.
