NEW DELHI: on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 36th National Games in a grand opening ceremony held in Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad of Gujarat and said that the soft power of sport improves the identity of a nation.
Gujarat Prime Minister Bhupendra Patel, Governor Acharya Devvrat, Union Minister Anurag Thakur and other dignitaries were present.
“The largest stadium in the world hosts the largest sporting event for the nation with the youngest population. When the event is so extraordinary and unique, the energy will be just as extraordinary,” said Prime Minister Modi.

Praising Narendra Modi, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel said the state has become a politician led under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
“The state sports policy was pioneered by him. The development of a world-class sports university in Baroda is almost complete,” he added.
