BIRMINGHAM: India Manju Bala qualified for the final while his compatriot Sarita Singh failed to make the cut in the women’s hammer throw event at the Commonwealth Games here on Thursday.
The 33 year old player Bala finished 11th in the qualifying round with a best throw of 59.68m on his first attempt.
In the same event, the other Indian athlete Sarita failed to qualify for the final after finishing 13th with her best throw of 57.48.
According to the rules, the top 12 artists qualify for the final, which will be held on Saturday August 6.
from Canada Camryn Rogers dominated the qualifying round with the best throw of 74.68m, which is a Commonwealth Games record.
