JAMMU: A high-level security meeting was held Rajouri Saturday to discuss an action plan to counter the emerging threat in the wake of a wave of terrorist activity in J&K’s Rajouri and Poonch districts.
The meeting comes after the fidayeen’s pre-dawn attack (suicide) on August 11 on an army settlement in Parghal, Rajouri, in which two terrorists killed four soldiers. The attackers were also killed in the operation. Three days later, on August 14, the terrorists fired on security forces during a mourning and search operation in the forest area of Sojan in Rajouri, but managed to escape taking advantage of the inclement weather.
“The meeting participated ADGP (Jammu area) Mukesh Singh, GOC 25 Division and GOC Romeo Force in addition to intelligence agencies, Brigade CommandersSSP of both districts and SP (Operations) Shopian, “a police spokesperson said.
Intelligence agencies informed all present on recent trends in terrorist activities. A detailed discussion was held on the same and an action plan was devised to counter the threat, the spokesman said.
“Previously, ADGP Singh visited the Thanamandi bowl and was briefed by the SSP and SDPO on suspected terrorist movements. The ADGP also visited the headquarters of the 2nd Battalion of the IRP where they were introduced to an honor guard, “the spokesperson said, adding that the ADGP also held separate meetings with police officers and instructed officers regarding their roles and responsibilities.
