The 76th Independence Day is celebrated with unprecedented patriotic fervor across the nation. People from all walks of life participate in large numbers in “Tiranga Rallies” and other programs. With the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, the Tricolor can be seen flowing over vehicles, shops, homes, government buildings and historic monuments. As a tradition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also hoisted the Tricolor at the Red Fort amidst a 21-gun salute from the indigenous-developed howitzer cannon. Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi called on the Indian people to take “Panch Pran” (five promises) for a developed nation and aim to fulfill the dreams of freedom fighters by the year 2047, the 100th year of India’s independence. “The first pran is to move forward with greater resolution and resolve than developed India. The second pran is to erase all traces of servitude. Even if we see the smallest things of servitude, within us or near us, we must get rid of them. The third is to be proud of our heritage. Four is the strength of unity for our dreams of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.” The fifth pran is the duties of the citizens which also include the Prime Minister and Prime Ministers. This is a great pranshakti to make the country’s dreams come true over the next 25 years, “the Prime Minister said.
