NEW DELHI: West Indian T20 specialist Chris Gayle will don the Gujarat Giants jersey owned by Adani Sportsline in the next season of the League of Legends Cricket (SARL) with Virender Sehwag when the action begins at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on September 16.
Under LLC draft rules, franchises have three days to finalize their respective squads, including any additional Cricketing Legends picks with their available franchise purse.
The Giants had spent Rs 5,51,80,000 on 15 props on Friday, during the virtual draft and ended up with Rs 2,48,20,000 to finalize their squad.
“After Friday’s draft, the Gujarat Giants had made clear their desire to buy Chris Gayle with the remaining purse of their individual franchise Rs 8 crore purse. We facilitated the discussion and are happy that Gayle is seen playing for the Adani Sportsline team,” said Raman Raheja, CEO and Co-Founder, LLC.
Gayle will have the company of West Indian teammate and slugger Lendl Simmons along with local favorite Parthiv Patel. Mysterious Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis and former New Zealand captain and left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori will lead the spin department, while Mitchell McClenaghan will lead the bowling department.
