The fourth phase of sea trials for the indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) was successfully completed on Sunday, the Indian Navy said.

NEW DELHI: The fourth phase of sea trials for indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) was successfully completed on Sunday, the Indian Navy said.
During the exercise, integrated tests of most of the on-board equipment and systems were undertaken, including some of the equipment in the aviation facility complex.
Delivery of the ship is expected by the end of this month, followed by the ship’s commissioning in August to commemorate “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
Indigenous aircraft carrier design and construction by the Indian Navy and Cochin Shipyard Ltd is a shining example in the nation’s search for “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” and “Make in India Initiative” with over 76% indigenous content.
This has led to the growth of indigenous design and construction capabilities, as well as the development of a large number of ancillary industries, with job opportunities for over 2,000 CSL employees and approximately 12,000 employees in ancillary industries.
The first sea trials of the IAC were successfully completed in August last year. This was followed by the second and third phase of sea trials in October and January respectively. During these three phases of sea trials, durability tests were carried out on the ship’s propulsion machinery, electrical and electronic suites, deck machinery, life-saving devices, navigation and communication systems.
