Donald Trump Investigated Under The Espionage Act With “Top Secret” Documents Taken From His Florida Home | News from the United States

The FBI recovered more than 20 boxes of items – some labeled top secret – during a search of Donald Trump’s Florida mansion, according to court documents.

Details of a warrant that has now been unlocked show some elements of defense information.

The warrant states that the investigation concerns alleged violations of the Espionage Act.

Among the 20 boxes removed were 11 sets of classified documents, one marked as “miscellaneous classified documents / TS / SCI”, which referred to top secret and sensitive information.

A photo binder, a handwritten note and a potential presidential record were also seized.

The FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida earlier this weekwith the former president claiming that his home was “searched” and “under siege” and that officers opened a safe.

He told his 3.8 million followers on his Truth Social platform that the documents were “all declassified” and that he would hand them over at any time – there was no need to “seize” them.

However, while a president has the authority to declassify documents, it’s unclear whether Mr. Trump never took official steps to do so.

A great quest: 58 bedrooms, 33 bathrooms

His followers have been largely galvanized by the FBI’s research – rallying around him and criticizing the move as a political one, as it comes at a time when many expect him to announce plans to run for a second presidential term.

The warrant described his property as “a mansion with approximately 58 bedrooms, 33 bathrooms, on a 17 acre estate”.

It said agents could search the “45 Office” – a reference to Trump’s status as the 45th American President – “all warehouses and any other rooms or areas within the premises used or available to be used by FPOTUS” ( former president of the United States).

In addition, according to the “receipt of ownership”, information about the “President of France” and an executive grant of clemency for Trump’s former ally were discovered. Ruggero Pietra.

Mr. Stone initially encouraged Trump to run for office, and his firm support for the president earned him a commuted sentence for his indictment following the Mueller investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

What did the mandate allow?

The unsealed warrant allowed for the removal of “all physical documents and records that constitute evidence, contraband, crime, or other illegally owned items,” including:

  • Any physical documents with classification marks, as well as any containers / box (including any other contents) in which such documents are located, as well as any other containers / boxes that are collectively stored or found along with the aforementioned documents and containers / box.
  • Information, including communications in any form, regarding the retrieval, storage or transmission of national defense information or classified material.
  • Any government and / or presidential documents created between January 20, 2017 and January 20, 2021
  • Any evidence of knowing alteration, destruction or concealment of any government and / or presidential document, or any document with classification marks.
