A $ AP Rocky has been charged with two counts of assault by gunshot in Los Angeles, authorities said.
The US rapper, real name Rakim Mayers, allegedly pointed a gun at a victim in an accident in November last year.
On Monday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged the New York native of two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm on charges of personal use of a firearm.
The district attorney’s office said he would also shoot the weapon in the victim’s direction in a later confrontation.
Mayers recently welcomed her first child with Rihanna, one of the best-selling musical artists of all time, in May.
“Unloading a gun in a public place is a serious crime that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the targeted person, but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” said District Attorney George Gascon.
“My office conducted a thorough analysis of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm charge was warranted.”
Mayers is expected to file an appeal on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
The case is still being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Robbery / Homicide Division.
Mayers is known for songs including F ***** Problems, Praise The Lord, and Everyday.
