HS Prannoy enters Japan Open quarterfinals | Badminton News


OSAKA: Star Indian Commuter HS Prannoy continued his wild run with a stunning back-to-back win over the former world champion Yew by Loh Kean from Singapore to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Japan Open Super 750 tournament here on Thursday.
A former world number 8, Prannoy, who reached the quarter-finals of the World Championships last week, beat eighth-seeded Yew 22-20, 21-19 in a 44-minute men’s singles match in the second round.
It was Prannoy’s third win over the Singaporean in four games.
The 30-year-old Indian will next face Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in the round of 16.
Prannoy has beaten Chen in their last two meetings.
