Premier League, EFL postpone next round of fixtures to mourn Queen | Football News


The high end premier league and the English Football League (THE F) have postponed their next round of matches as a mark of respect following the death of queen elizabeththey said on Friday.
The Queen, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, died peacefully at her home in Scotland on Thursday aged 96.
“As a sign of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth IIthis weekend’s Premier League round will be postponed,” he said in a statement.
“At a meeting this morning, Premier League clubs paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
“To honor his extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a sign of respect, this weekend’s Premier League round of play will be postponed, including Monday night’s game.”
The EFL have said all of their matches from September 9-10 will be postponed.
“This matches the approach the Premier League and the FA will take with their competitions this weekend,” the EFL said.
