North Korea flies fighter jets near border after missile launch

SEOUL: South Korea said North Korea has stolen war planes near the rivals’ border, prompting South Korea to jam fighter jets.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that North Korean planes flew up to 12 kilometers (7 miles) north of the inter-Korean border between Thursday night and Friday morning.
It is a highly unusual incident, and it comes amid heightened tensions between the rivals over North Korea’s barrage of missile tests in recent days.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said they responded by scrambling F-35 aircraft and other warplanes. No clash between the rivals has been reported.
