CAIRO: Young Rudrankksh Patil friday won men’s gold Air Rifle 10m ISSF World Championship event here, becoming the second Indian to achieve the feat after the legendary Abhinav Bindra.
Patil also got a 2024 Paris Olympic Games quota for the country in the process. It was India’s second Olympic quota.
Rudrankksh, 18, beat Italy’s Danilo Dennis Sollazzo 17-13 in the gold medal match after a brilliant comeback effort.

Four quota places are available in the Olympic events of the World Championship this year.
India recently secured their first shotgun world championship quota in Croatia, courtesy of Bhowneesh Mendiratta in the men’s trap event.
Appearing at his first world championship, Rudrankksh led 4-10 in the new format in the gold medal match to decide the top two.

The Italian shooter held on to the lead for most of the final, but the Indian pulled off a stunning comeback to emerge victorious.
Rudrankksh dominated qualification and was assured of the quota after entering the gold medal match in second place in the seeding round.
2008 Beijing Olympics champion Bindra won his World Championship gold medal in his 2006 10m air rifle event in Zagreb, Croatia.
