PONTEVEDRA (Spain): Freestyle wrestler A man won India’s first gold medal in the current edition of the U-23 World Championship when they dominated Turkey Ahmet Duman in Saturday’s 57kg title clash.
Aman scored all of his points in the second period while his opponent got his points with a few two points in each period.
This is Aman’s fourth medal this season, after winning gold in Almaty, silver in Dan Kolov and bronze in Yasar Dogou.
India signed with six medals with only nine wrestlers taking the mat.
India cherished their best ever result in Greco-Roman style with three wrestlers winning medals – all bronze.
The other 21 selected in the Indian team could not compete because their visa applications were rejected by the Spanish Embassy.
