Kyiv: A series of explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital, KyivMonday morning, according to Reuters witnesses in the city, while regional authorities in northern, eastern and central Ukraine also reported missile strikes.
Russia has stepped up its missile attacks on Ukraine in recent weeks after accusing Kyiv of being responsible for the explosion that damaged the Crimean bridge.
Smoke could be seen rising over Kyiv after more than 10 explosions, witnesses said, and electricity and mobile phone networks were cut in parts of the city.
Ihor Terekhov, the mayor of Kharkiv, said the city was hit by two missiles which targeted “a critical infrastructure facility”. Explosions were also reported in the towns of Zaporizhzhia and Cherkasy.
“Russian losers continue to wage war on civilian installations,” said President Andriy Yermak Volodymyr Zelensky‘s chief of staff, wrote in the messaging app Telegram.
