North Korea launched at least two more ballistic missiles on Thursday, one of which was sailing over northern Japan and landing in the Pacific Ocean, according to Japanese and South Korean officials.
Warnings have been issued for residents in the Japanese prefectures of Miyagi, Yamagata and Niigata to take refuge in their homes or go underground.
The latest barrage comes the day after North Korea launched at least 23 missiles on Wednesday, one of which landed off the coast of South Korea and forced a populated South Korean island to evacuate.
Wednesday’s launches marked the largest number of missiles North Korea has ever fired in a single day, according to South Korea.

Pyongyang also fired more than 100 artillery rounds Wednesday in a buffer zone established in a 2018 military agreement with South Korea.
“Our military can never tolerate this type of provocation by North Korea and will respond strictly and firmly as part of close cooperation between South Korea and the United States,” the Joint Chief of Staff of Korea said Wednesday. South.

It comes as the United States and South Korea conduct “Vigilant Storm,” involving more than 200 warplanes.
