Police in the United States found a beheaded body after receiving reports of a dog carrying a severed human arm.
The body was discovered in Jackson, MississippiSaturday in an abandoned house in the woods, said Deric Hearn, Jackson’s deputy police chief.
The arm was recovered from a street near the abandoned house, but the head has not yet been located, Hinds County coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart told WAPT-TV.
The victim appeared to be a male, the coroner added.
“This is a very graphic and brutal image,” said Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba. “Mutilation of a body, my reaction is one of disgust, one of concern.
“It’s not something you get used to. It’s never something you want to get used to.”
Authorities did not release the victim’s name or provide more details on the case amid an ongoing investigation.
Mr. Hearn told the news station that the case is Jackson’s 117th murder of the year.
