Jos Buttler unfazed by ODI whitewash in Australia | Cricket News

MELBOURNE: England white ball captain Jos Buttler unimpressed with their 3-0 shutout in Australia and urged directors to ensure bilateral cricket remained relevant.
Nine days after beating Pakistan in the T20 World Cup final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, England’s one-day side suffered a 221-point spanking on Tuesday as Australia swept the three-game series .
The home side went 355-5 and then beat England for 142 in 31.4 overs before a largely empty stand at the MCG in a lopsided contest.
“It was always going to be a tough series for us, after the World Cup,” butler told the BBC after England’s heaviest defeat in this format.
“Every time England play Australia you want to put in a good performance, but it’s just been difficult.
“I’m not worried about the results at all, to be honest. We got exactly what we wanted from (the tour in) Australia.”
The nature of their busy schedule could also be gauged by the fact that several members of the England test squad are already in Abu Dhabi preparing for their Pakistan tour.
“The landscape of cricket has changed dramatically over the past few years, and we are in a different era,” Buttler said.
“A lot of people talk about how you keep bilateral cricket relevant and I think this series is a good example of how it probably shouldn’t be done.”
“I feel a bit for the players, to be honest – the ones who are young and coming into the game at the moment. You want to play all formats and I don’t think the schedule really gives you that chance at the minute. . ”
