Audience interrupts Pakistan PM’s speech, Shehbaz Sharif says ‘food will be served soon’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the food will be served soon after being interrupted by an audience, according to a video broadcast by PTV news, the Urdu News channel.
While addressing the ceremony held in regards to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa development projects on Monday, an audience stood up and shouted during Sharif’s speech, after which the prime minister said, “Please sit down, the food will soon be served”.
After a brief smile, the Pakistani prime minister resumed his speech, according to the video.
Notably, Prime Minister Sharif was in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to lay the foundation stones for various communication, road, hydel and power infrastructure projects, The Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister said: “These challenges could be manifold but 220 million people in the country should not worry, the coalition government, with the support of its partners, will lead the country out of the challenges” .
He said that for the achievement of progress and prosperity, they should work hard with devotion. “Nations have always faced difficulties and the coalition government will only put Pakistan on the path of development through hard work,” he added.
The prime minister said he had laid the groundwork for launching mega-development projects in the backward areas of the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan report.
He mentioned that during his previous visits these areas had been inundated by flood waters and the people of these areas had faced immense destruction from Nowshera to Swat, Kalam, Kohistan, DIkhan and the districts of Tank were badly affected by flooding.
Speaking about the situation in Swat, the Prime Minister said the destruction was mainly caused by the man-made structures erected in the middle of the course of the river.
Sharif also criticized Pakistan’s provincial government Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its misguided policies.
The Prime Minister sarcastically mentioned that the provincial government of PTI always talks about introducing an effective system, but the people have witnessed the collapse of this system when the blunders of the government in this regard cannot be overlooked. , according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam AliMinister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam, Emir of Jammiat-e-Ulema Islam-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman, relevant authorities and a large number of people were present on the occasion, Pakistan’s Associated Press reported.
