Couple calls 911 for help moving belongings from home they were burglarizing and getting ‘drive to airport’ | American News

Two people in Florida have been arrested after one called 911 for help moving their belongings from a home they were burglarizing, authorities said.

Polk County officers responded to a home Saturday after a 911 call was made, but no one spoke.

Officers concluded no one lived there, but found a suspect and his girlfriend inside the house after entering through an unlocked door.

The woman told officers she called 911 to help them move their belongings from the home they were burglarizing.

She also called to see if she could get a ride to the airport to spend the weekend in New York, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.

In a Facebook post, the office said: “The deputies helped them with their stuff and drove them, but it wasn’t to the airport…it was to the Polk Pokey.

“And they’re welcome to stay there all weekend. The Polk Pokey is way better than New York anyway.”

Officers were looking for the suspect after identifying him from security video as a burglar at a Dollar General store in Poinciana, 35 miles south of Orlando, where several items were stolen earlier in the day, the sheriff’s office said.

The suspect was charged with burglary and theft related to the store and also burglary of a residence.
