A man was “neutralized” after assaulting several people at a Paris train station, a French minister has said.
Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed that a man injured several people at Gare du Nord this morning.
French media, citing unnamed police sources, said officers opened fire on the attacker, who was armed with a knife.
Broadcaster BFM TV said the attack left six people injured.
The attack happened around 06:40 local time (0540 GMT), according to train operator SNCF.
He said a security perimeter had been established but the station continued to operate normally.
Gare du Nord is one of the busiest train stations in Europe and connects Paris to London and northern Europe.
