NEW DELHI: After Virat Kohli’s jaw-dropping century against Sri Lanka in the inaugural ODI, the playmaker mohamed siraj gave India the perfect start by notching two quick wickets inside six overs of the Lankan innings at Guwahati on Tuesday.
Chasing 374, Sri Lanka got off to a dismal start losing Avishka Fernando in the fourth set. Fernando stood up straight and tried to play across the line but ended up taking the lead towards the middle where Hardik Pandya made an easy grab.
But the wicket of the day came later when Siraj cleaned up Kusal Mendis for a duck. The ball was thrown well and was not meant to be driven as it came sharply back through the gates to head off again. Mendis dazed.
