Some of Amritpal’s associates were also detained in Mehatpur while some others and Amritpal himself managed to escape in his vehicle. The chase was also broadcast live from his vehicle.
In the statewide crackdown, Punjab police arrested more people, including social media influencers as well.
As soon as the police started chasing Amritpal Singh at noon in Shahkot area of Jalandhar, and when it reached Mehatpur, his associates immediately released the information about the police action and called to reach the area. However, soon the internet services they were shut down statewide.
The senior police officers are still not disclosing the cases where Amritpal has been arrested. The action took place a day before Khalsa Wahir’s return leg from Mukatsar began on Sunday.
