Mushfiqur Rahim hits Bangladesh’s fastest ODI century, completes 7,000 runs | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Veteran hitter Mushfiqur Rahim made history on Monday by scoring for Bangladesh fastest ODI century and in the process also made 7,000 ODI runs on matchday two against Ireland in Sylhet.
Mushfiqur’s 60-ball century broke Shakib Al Hasan’s record of a 63-ball ODI cent against Zimbabwe in 2009.
He also became the third Bangladeshi player after Tamim Iqbal and Shakib to reach the 7000 ODI run mark.
After beating England 3-0 in T20, Mushfiqur was unbeaten on 100 balls from just 60, while Najmul Hossain and Liton Das added 73 and 70 points respectively.

It helped the hosts break their 338-8 record set only in the previous match, which they won by 183 points to give them a 1-0 lead in the three-game series.
Sent to bat first, Bangladesh started cautiously in lightly overcast conditions before Liton and skipper Tamim Iqbal gained confidence to put in 42 runs.
Tamim was run down for 23 with a straight throw from Mark Adair before Liton and Najmul added 101 for the second wicket.

Graham HumeIreland’s most successful bowler with 3-58, knocked out Shakib Al Hasan (17) and Najmul in successive overs after Andy McBrine took Liton’s wicket.
However, Mushfiqur and Towhid Hridoi then stormed the bowling alley to add 128 runs in just 13 overs for the fifth wicket.
Towhid fell for 49 but Mushfiqur continued his formidable batting to bring in his ninth ODI cent with a single on the final ball of the innings.
