Trains will be able to travel at speeds of 100 kilometers per hour on the bridge. A large number of sensors have been placed on the Anji Bridge so that structural health can be monitored on a regular basis. Also, an explosion with up to 40kg of explosives won’t be able to destroy the bridge, rail officials say.
It was designed to handle severe storms and wind speeds of up to 213 kilometers per hour. Anji Khad Bridge is supported by 96 cables with the cable length ranging from 82 meters to 295 meters.
It is located in the young Himalayan mountains, with extremely daunting geological conditions. According to Indian Railways, IIT Roorkee and IIT Delhi have conducted detailed investigations of the site.
