Most parts of India to see above-normal temperatures April to June: IMD | News from India

NEW DELHI: Most of India, with the exception of parts of the northwest and peninsular region, is expected to experience higher-than-normal maximum temperatures from April to June, the Meteorological Department of India (IMD extension) said Saturday.
He said higher-than-normal heat wave days are expected in most parts of central, eastern and northwestern India during this period.
“A significantly higher number of heat wave days are expected across parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana,” IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mahapatra said in a virtual news conference.
“During 2023 hot season (April to June), most parts of the country are expected to experience above-normal maximum temperatures, with the exception of southern peninsular India and some parts of northwestern India, where normal to below normal,” the IMD said.
Normal to above normal low temperatures are very likely in most parts of the country, with the exception of some areas in northeast and northwest India and in isolated pockets of the peninsular region.
The meteorological office said India should see normal rainfall in April.
Normal to above normal rainfall is expected over most of northwestern, central and peninsular regions, while below normal rainfall is expected over eastern and northeastern India.
