Exclusive! We were both wearing seat belts, says Vaibhavi’s boyfriend Jay Gandhi

Actress Vaibhavi Upadhyayadied in the car accident on tuesday, he was engaged to Jay Gandhi, a businessman. The two were traveling in Himachal Pradesh when their car got into an accident. Jay survived with some injuries, but is rattled and has yet to come to terms with the tragedy. In a short conversation, he said: “It is thought that it accelerates during road trips, but that was not the case. Our car was standing and waiting for the truck to pass. I’m not able to talk much, but I wanted to make sure people didn’t assume we weren’t wearing seat belts or were speeding.”

We also spoke to Vaibhavi’s brother Ankit Upadhyaya who shared, “Vaibhavi and Jay really liked road trips and mountains. They had planned a trip from Mumbai to Kullu and departed on 15th May from here. They had an accident in Banjar.
Speaking about the incident, he said: “It was a narrow lane and there were heavy vehicles going up and down. They saw a huge dump truck coming and stopped the car, waiting for it to pass. The truck swerved, but the rear end hit the car, which skidded into the valley. Due to the impact, Vaibhavi was thrown out of the car. When the locals took Vaibhavi to the hospital, it was too late.”
Vaibhavi was wearing a seat belt during the crash, Ankit said. “She was always careful and she never sat in the car without a seat belt. So, on a trip, she would be very careful. Doctors also confirmed that there were seat belt marks around her neck. It’s sad that we were thinking of organizing her wedding but she is now gone.
