England Cricket Team: Stuart Broad becomes first England bowler to claim 150 Ashes wickets | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Stuart Broad, the seasoned pace bowler, etched his name in Ashes history by becoming the first England bowler to achieve the remarkable feat of 150 wickets in the prestigious series. Broad’s accomplishment came during England’s fifth Ashes Test against Australia at The Oval.

In Australia’s first innings, Broad quickly dismissed Usman Khawaja and Travis Head to reach the historic milestone. The achievement marks a significant moment in the veteran’s illustrious Ashes career.
Having featured in 40 Ashes matches, Broad now boasts an impressive tally of 151 wickets at an average of 28.81. His outstanding performances include the best bowling figures of 8/15, along with six four-wicket hauls and eight five-wicket hauls in his Ashes journey.

Currently, the English pacer stands as the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of Ashes, trailing behind Australia’s legendary pacer Glenn McGrath (157 wickets in 30 matches, best figures of 8/38) and the late Australian spin maestro Shane Warne (195 wickets in 36 matches, best figures of 8/71).

Over his illustrious career of 167 Test matches, Stuart Broad has captured an impressive total of 602 wickets at an average of 27.63. His bowling repertoire includes 20 five-wicket hauls and three ten-wicket hauls in Test cricket.
Remarkably, age has not hindered Broad’s brilliance on the field. In the ongoing Ashes 2023 series, he has displayed his mastery by taking 20 wickets in five Tests at an average of 27.25, with his best bowling figures being 4/65. As the highest wicket-taker in the current Ashes series, Broad continues to be a formidable force in the world of cricket.
