Caste Survey: Bihar to table full caste survey report in assembly today | India News

PATNA: The Bihar government will table the full report of the caste survey, including the socio-economic status of different groups, in both the houses of state legislature on Tuesday, parliamentary affairs minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said Monday.
Talking to reporters outside the assembly, the senior JD (U) leader took exception to Union home minister Amit Shah’s allegation that the caste survey had been manipulated to show “inflated” Yadav and Muslim populations.
“The Union minister’s claim at a BJP rally in Muzaffarpur on Sunday was bereft of logic, and unbecoming of a person holding a responsible post. He should have disclosed the basis of such a claim. If Shah feels the figures of caste survey are inaccurate, then he must be having an idea of what could be the accurate numbers. How did he arrive at such an estimate?” Choudhary asked.
Although BJP liked “to boast they’re above casteism”, Shah made an “appalling attempt to gain political mileage of social divisions by explicitly naming communities,” he said. Choudhary added that the state government held the survey only after Centre made clear its reluctance to conduct the caste census.
