Glenn Maxwell equals Rohit Sharma’s record for most T20I hundreds

NEW DELHI: Australia’s Glenn Maxwell on Tuesday equalled the record for most centuries in T20 International cricket, matching the tally held by India’s captain Rohit Sharma.
Maxwell’s exceptional 47-ball century played a pivotal role in guiding Australia to a thrilling last-ball victory against India at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. With this win, Australia managed to cut India’s series lead to 2-1 in the five-match rubber.

Both the players now share the record for the most centuries in the T20 format, each having scored four centuries.Maxwell scored an unbeaten 104 off 48 balls which included eight sixes and as many fours.
This was also Maxwell’s 100th T20I appearance for Australia. The achievement highlights Maxwell’s prowess in T20 cricket and underlines his ability to make a significant impact on the game.
Maxwell smashed India pacer Prasidh Krishna for a six and three successive boundaries in the last four balls of the match to clinch the win for the Aussies.
“It all went pretty quickly. It was hard work for them to bowl yorkers with so much dew. We didn’t really have a number in mind. Knew we would be in the game if we could take it down to the final over,” Maxwell, who was named player of the match, said at the post-match presentation.
“Wade had to be out there to cash in with Axar having one over left towards the end. Wade was brilliant out there, the way he went helped me as well,” Maxwell added.
