NEW DELHI: One terrorist was killed when security forces monitoring the International Border (IB) foiled an infiltration attempt at Khour in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector early on Saturday.
According to Army officials, the operation began when suspected movement of four heavily-armed terrorists was detected through surveillance devices on the interveningnight of December 22 and December 23.
The troops opened fire on the infiltrating terrorists, and one of them was fatally injured. The deceased’s body was taken back by his associates, the officials said.
Infiltration bid foiled in IB sector of Khour, Akhnoor. Suspected move of four terrorists seen through own surveillance devices on the night of 22/23 Dec 23. Effective fire brought down. Terrorists seen dragging one body back across the IB,” White Knight Corps said on X.

This comes after a terrorist ambush on two military vehicles in J&K’s Poonch district that left at least four soldiers dead and three wounded on Thursday.
The attack had occurred around 3.45pm on Wednesday evening when the troopers were en route to reinforce a joint operation against terrorists in the Dhera Ki Gali area.
The banned People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist outfit, had claimed responsibility for the ambush.
Despite being declared terrorism-free more than a decade ago, the frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch have recorded a concerning rise in Army fatalities, with 34 reported since October 2021. The toll for this year alone stood at 20 (till Thursday), making up 59% of the total.
