Iran executes four people convicted of spying after Supreme Court rejects their plea

NEW DELHI: Iran executed four people on Monday, that it claims were linked to an Israeli intelligence operation, Iranian state media reported.
This comes following the rejection of their appeal by the Iranian supreme court.
The defendants were accused of illegally entering Iran from Iraq’s Kurdistan region with the intention of conducting a bombing operation in an Isfahan-based factory that produces equipment for Iran’s Ministry of Defence.
The operation which was meant to take place in 2022 was foiled by the Iranian intelligence. It was allegedly planned on behalf of Israel’s Mossad.
Iran and Israel have been foes for a long time. They are currently in a dispute over Iran’s nuclear program. Israel says Iran is backing militant attacks against it, while Iran claims Israel has killed its officials and scientists.
