Haldwani Violence: 25 more arrests take total to 30, key accused Abdul Malik to be nabbed soon | India News

NEW DELHI: In the aftermath of the violent clashes in Haldwani’s Banbhoolpura area, 25 additional arrests have been made, bringing the total number of those apprehended to 30. The key accused, Abdul Malik, is expected to be apprehended soon, Nainital Senior Superintendent of Police Prahlad Meena informed on Sunday.
Uttarakhand Police has utilised CCTV footage to identify individuals involved in rioting and stone-pelting.The unrest, triggered by an anti-encroachment drive on Thursday, resulted in the demise of six people and left over 100 injured.
Malik allegedly constructed an illegal structure, the demolition of which sparked the violent incident in Haldwani’s Banbhoolpura area.
Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conveyed his resolve to address the situation decisively, emphasizing the need to swiftly apprehend those responsible for the violence. Dhami has directed officials to expedite the arrest of individuals involved in the incident.
In a statement, CM Dhami remarked, “Action is continuously being taken against the rioters and unruly elements involved in the Haldwani violence. All rioters are being arrested one after another. The drive against illegal encroachments in the state will not stop,”
