NEW DELHI: Barely days before the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) kicks in, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Council of Ministers will on Sunday discuss the roadmap for India to emerge as a developed nation by 2047. This will be the last meeting of the full house of ministers of Modi’s second term.
TOI has learnt that the full-day meet will be attended by all secretaries as well.Sources said this will be the first presentation of the full “Vision India@2047” before the Council of Ministers. On earlier occasions, some presentations related to sectors such as infrastructure and social welfare were made.
“This will be a key meeting considering that in the interim Budget, the FM announced that govt will present a detailed roadmap for Viksit Bharat’ in the full budget in July. Since the PM is confident of his govt returning, we expect that he will speak his mind on the bigger plan. We will have at least two months to incorporate the suggestions and inputs that would emerge from the brainstorming sessions,” said a top govt official.
As per the govt plan, India is estimated to be a $30 trillion developed economy by 2047. Govt think tank Niti Aayog, which has compiled the sectoral reports, will present the report on Sunday. Besides suggesting the roadmap for reforms and ease of living, the document is likely to outline the Indian companies that would emerge as global leaders.
The draft Vision plans for different sectors have estimated the required investment and the source of revenue to fund them.
