Nakul declares assets of Rs 697 crore; annual income grew by 185% | India News

BHOPAL: The annual income of Congress candidate from Chhindwara Nakul Nath grew by nearly 185% between the last Lok Sabha election and now, and the cumulative assets owned by him and spouse saw an increase of 8.8%, says the affidavit he presented during nomination for the Lok Sabha seat.
Nakul, the son of former CM Kamal Nath, is the lone Lok Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh, having survived the BJP wave that swept up 28 of the state’s 29 seats.
As per the affidavit submitted before ECI, Nakul has declared assets worth Rs 697 crore, his wealth having gone up by Rs 40 crore in the past five years. Nakul had reported an annual income of Rs 2.76 crore in 2017-18, which grew to Rs 7.89 crore in 2022-23. His maximum annual income during this period was Rs 11.6 crore in 2019-20.
Cumulatively Nakul and wife Priya Nath own immovable and movable assets worth Rs 716 crore, as per the affidavit submitted by Nakul in this election. At the time of the last Lok Sabha election, this figure was Rs 660 crore. There has been an increase of around Rs 56. 2 crore in assets owned jointly by the Nath couple.
His maximum assets are liquid, in the form of investments in shares of diversified private companies.
As per the affidavit, Nakul has no cars and owns 1.89 kg of gold which is more than twice the 850.6 gm gold owned by wife Priya Nath.
