‘Haathi chahe dhul mein sana ho…’: Navjot Singh Sidhu’s poetic praise for Rohit Sharma | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: In his signature poetic style, former Indian batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu lauded Rohit Sharma, emphasizing that Mumbai Indians are blessed with unparalleled fortune to have Rohit in their ranks.
Despite a modest start to IPL 2024 with scores of 43 and 26 in the first two games, former MI captain Rohit’s prowess remains undiminished, affirmed Sidhu, asserting that Rohit continues to reign supreme in the game.

Taking to social media platform X, Sidhu posted a video featuring Rohit’s glorious moments of the career.
“Even if the elephant is covered in dust, it will still be respected. Even tying the dog with a gold chain does not make one respectable,” Sidhu captioned a video.

The five-time IPL-winning captain Rohit was replaced by Hardik Pandya ahead of the season, a move which did not go well with his fans. But Sidhu expressed that playing under Hardik’s leadership will not diminish Rohit’s stature.
“I have played in an Indian team where five captains used to play together. Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Krishnamachari Srikkanth and Ravi Shastri. Pick up a brick and you will find a captain both above and below it. There were no issues because they were playing for their nation. The motivation was to play for your country. So, playing under Hardik does not make Rohit smaller,” Sidhu said in a match analysis for Star Sports.
Hardik was mercilessly subjected to boos and jeers by fans during MI’s first two games in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad, where they ended up on the losing side.
